Hawaii

ALOHA!

In October I checked a big one off of my bucket list, a trip to Hawaii. It was a quick and last minute trip to Maui and totally worth it! Although there to watch collegiate golf, go Georgia Bulldogs , and most of our time was spent at Kaanapali golf course, we did find time to venture out and try some great Hawaiian cuisine and explore Maui.

After a day at the course we went to lunch at Lelanis at Whalers Villiage

We had delicious local fish (mahi) tacos and mojitos in pineapples!

Dinner with a view!

Merrimans provided a beautiful sunset view and delicious regional Hawaiian cuisine!

Local Hawaiin Pineapple--locals sprinkle

Li Hing Powder on the pineapple . It's the extract from the plum seed.

More delicious than any pineapple I've ever eaten, they were a daily treat!

Our final meal , en route to the airport before our flight home, we stopped to grab a "local pie" at the best pizza place on the island, Flatbread company.

They opened their first doors just over twenty years ago, but the folks at Flatbread Company trace their roots to a much earlier time. They’ve sourced the origins of baking as inspiration for their primitive clay and stone ovens.

Each of their flatbreads is hand-prepared with natural, organic, and free-range ingredients, and wood-fired for what they say is incredible tasting pizza.

Kaanapali golf course --a beautiful place to watch collegiate golf. Every hole has a beautiful view. One day we ran across the street to Whalers Villiage while Connor was on hole 1 to watch a few minutes of a luau!!!

I was lucky to witness a traditional Hawaiian sunset ceremony. The sunset ceremony starts with the blowing of the conch or pu. Blowing the conch opens most Hawaiian ceremonies and rituals and represents the opening of the event and the sweeping away of negative energy so that it can start with positive intentions. It's also a signal to thank the daylight and prepare for the legendarily beautiful Hawaiian sunset.

Overlooking Honolua Bay--a regular place for surfing and snorkeling.

The 10hr total flight time--worth it to see such beauty in Hawaii!!

Hawaii was everything I expected and more!
